Ohio Rules

  1. Sponsorship and Eligibility. This contest is sponsored by Farm Credit Mid-America, 12501 Lakefront Place, Louisville, Kentucky 40299. There is no purchase necessary to enter or win. This contest is open to junior county fair boards and legal residents of the United States who are eighteen (18) years or older at the time of entry; however, the contest is void where otherwise prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of Farm Credit Mid-America, its affiliates, licensees, franchisees, advertising and promotional agencies and the immediate family members of each are not eligible. No purchase necessary to enter or win the contest.
  2. Qualification Period. The food collection qualification period for each participant in the contest begins on the date and at the time that the participant’s county fair begins and ends on the date and at the time that the participant’s county fair ends. Participants may collect food prior to the start of the participant’s county fair, however in order to be counted toward the contest, all food must be deposited during the participant’s county fair and must be physically located on the participant’s official contest trailer(s) prior to the end of the participant’s county fair. Additionally, participants may collect funds prior to or during the participant’s county fair to be used to purchase food items, and the same rules regarding qualifying food collection will apply (i.e. only food physically located on the participant’s official contest trailer(s) prior to the end of the participant’s county fair will be counted toward the participant’s total).
  3. Procedures. To enter the contest, you must sign below indicating your acknowledgment and acceptance of these Official Rules. Participants must deliver to Farm Credit Mid-America a completed and signed copy of these Official Rules in order to be eligible to win. Additionally, to be eligible to receive the Participation Prize discussed below, participants must provide a space and official contest trailer(s) for food collection at the participant’s county fair.
  4. Duties of Participants; Limitation of Liability. By entering, participants agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of Farm Credit Mid-America, which shall be final. All federal, state, and local laws apply. Farm Credit Mid-America and the employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, and representatives of Farm Credit Mid-America, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising, promotion and legal advisors are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or unintelligible entries; (ii) telephone, electronic, hardware, or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties; (iii) errors in transmission; (iv) any condition caused by events beyond the control of Farm Credit Mid-America that may cause the contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (v) any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by a prize or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of a prize, or from participation in the contest; or (vi) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the contest.
  5. Violation of Contest Rules. Farm Credit Mid-America reserves the right to disqualify any participant or winner who, in its sole suspicion, tampers with the entry process, intentionally submits more than a single entry, violates these rules or the website Terms of Use, or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.
  6. Selection of Winners. All food collected must be donated to a local food bank in the participant’s county. Prizes will be awarded based upon the total pounds of food donated (i.e. the participant that donates the most pounds of food will receive First Place, the participant that donates the second most pounds of food will receive Second Place, etc.). Documentation from the food bank is required to confirm the number of pounds donated, and no entry will be valid unless Farm Credit Mid-America receives such documentation. Food items that are donated and/or included as part of a separate food or donation drive will not count toward a participant’s total under this contest. Each participant’s entry and participation in this contest must be led by the respective junior fair board.
  7. Description of Prizes. The prizes will be as follows:
    • First Place – Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00)
    • Second Place – Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($3,500.00)
    • Third Place – One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00)
    Each participant will receive a Participation Prize of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) which will be awarded during the participant’s county fair. In the event of a tie between multiple participants, the prize money for each respective place will be combined and divided evenly between such participants (ex: if two participants tie for First Place, the First Place and Second Place prizes will be combined and each of the two participants will receive Four Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($4,250.00) (($5,000.00 + $3,500)/2) and the Third Place prize would then be awarded to the participant who donated the second most pounds of food).
  8. Notification of Winners; Substitution of Prizes. Winners will be notified by telephone. Farm Credit Mid-America will reasonably continue to attempt to contact the winners if they are initially unavailable by telephone. If any winner does not respond and/or is not able to be contacted within a reasonable amount of time, as determined in Farm Credit Mid-America’s sole discretion, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate will be selected using the judging criteria set forth herein. Winners may not substitute or transfer prizes. All taxes on prize are winners' responsibility. Limit: one prize per household. All prize money received by a participant, including the Participation Prize, must be used solely for the benefit of the junior fair board or junior leaders participating in the contest.
  9. Permissions. Except where prohibited by law, entry constitutes permission to use participants’ names, hometowns and likenesses for online posting, and/or any advertising and publicity without additional compensation. Winners may also be required to sign and return a release of liability, affidavit of eligibility and, where lawful, a publicity consent agreement, as conditions of receiving a prize. Failure to comply with the aforementioned conditions shall be grounds for forfeiture of a prize.

If a fair raises less than 1,000 pounds, they will receive $250. In the event of a tie between multiple participants, the prize money for each respective place will be combined and divided evenly between such participants (ex: if two participants tie for First Place, the First Place and Second Place prizes will be combined and each of the two participants will receive Four Thousand Dollars ($4,000.00) (($5,000.00 + $3,000)/2) and the Third Place prize would then be awarded to the participant who donated the second most pounds of food).
