As a kid, Jordan Brewer wrote a poem about his perfect life. It included owning a farm, having a family, living in a house on a large amount of land and being surrounded by cows. Little did he know his childhood dream would become a reality, spurred by hard work and help from Farm Credit Mid-America.
Jordan’s passion for agriculture began at an early age. He grew up farming with his grandfather. When his grandfather was ready to step back, Jordan and his wife purchased the 220-acre property in LaRue County, Kentucky, which has been in his family for generations.
“I was on the tractor with my grandpa from age 4,” Jordan said. “It’s special that my grandpa, who still lives down the road from me, can see me taking care of the same land he and his father farmed.”
Today, with continued support and guidance from Farm Credit Mid-America, Jordan grows his own hay and manages a herd of 150 brood cows. He also balances a career as a registered nurse working in the emergency department at a nearby hospital. In both roles, he enjoys the opportunity to positively impact his community.
“My wife and I sit on the front porch sometimes after we put the kids to bed, and we really can’t believe this is our life,” Jordan said. “The fact that the poem I wrote as a child came true, thanks to Farm Credit Mid-America, is unbelievable. It’s a simple life, but it’s a very rewarding one.”
