Biographical Information
Along with my cousin/partner, I operate a fourth-generation family farm in Northeast Arkansas currently consisting of corn, popcorn, cotton and soybeans. My wife, Karen, owns Wildflower Properties, LLC, a rental property business. We have two children, Taylor (husband Clay) and Logan, and two grandchildren, Lyle and Nellie. We all enjoy the outdoors; hunting, fishing, hiking, and tending the crop. My family is my greatest earthly blessing.
I’ve been a Farm Credit member since 1993, when I secured my first real estate loan for 40 acres. Farm Credit continued to meet my needs throughout the years as our operation was blessed to expand. Over time, I realized the value of a self-governing cooperative lender. Being given the opportunity to replace a retiring director on the Farm Credit Midsouth Board, I was grateful to be nominated and blessed to be elected to the Board in 2013. Following the merger with Farm Credit Mid-America in 2023, I was allowed to continue my service as director to our customer-owners. Currently, I serve as Vice Chair of the Farm Credit Mid-America Board, having been elected to that position by my fellow Board members in 2024. I’ve consistently attended training and national Farm Credit events to try and be the best director that I can be for the stockholder, and as the ever-changing landscape of agricultural lending requires to stay current. Throughout the years, this service has become a passion to me. I don’t take this service lightly. I’m here to serve.
Why do you want to serve on the Farm Credit Mid-America Board?
Given my training, experience, and desire, I feel fully prepared to represent and can express the needs of our customer-owners. I’ve been fortunate to create and maintain personal relationships with many of our customers, both listening and sharing the concerns within the Association. I strive to take these concerns to the boardroom in my continued effort to be an appropriate representative. To talk with a young farmer as they navigate the financial maze of production agriculture reminds me of my own story, and I take that to heart. These aspects of the job have been most rewarding, and I hope, with your support, to continue fostering those relationships.
Also, from a legislative and regulatory standpoint, Farm Credit’s voice nationally can’t be underestimated and must be utilized. My service on the District Farm Credit Council has allowed me to do that, and I hope to continue.
