Kevin Kuper, an experienced executive leader with 25 years of experience in the Farm Credit System, has joined Farm Credit Mid-America’s executive leadership team as chief credit officer. Kuper will lead the credit function for the financial cooperative, overseeing sound credit processes and decisions are made across all loan portfolios while mitigating risk, managing credit quality, and adhering to regulatory compliance.

"I am honored to join the talented team at Farm Credit Mid-America,” says Kuper. “Overseeing all credit functions for a cooperative that serves more than 145,000 customers is a significant responsibility, and I take our charter to be a reliable source of credit to farmers and rural residents in both good and challenging times to heart. Together, we will continue to support our agricultural communities and help our customers achieve their vision for their operations.”

Before joining Farm Credit Mid-America, Kuper was the executive head of commercial banking at American AgCredit, where he successfully led sales, credit and operations teams to meet the financing needs of commercial banking customers in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Prior to that role, Kuper was chief credit officer at Farm Credit of New Mexico.

“Kevin’s extensive background in credit and agriculture lending, combined with his strategic vision and proven leadership experience, will be instrumental in driving our continued success and supporting our customer-owners,” says Dan Wagner, president and chief executive officer of Farm Credit Mid-America. “In Kevin’s short time here, he’s already made significant progress to transition into the role as he worked alongside our retiring chief credit officer for 90 days. Kevin is aligned with our purpose to secure the future of rural communities and agriculture and is a great cultural fit for our team.”

Kuper has a Master of Business Administration from New Mexico State University and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Applied Economics from Texas Tech University.

Kevin Kuper succeeds Vince Bailey, who retired in February after a distinguished, nearly 40-year career with Farm Credit Mid-America, which included serving as Chief Credit Officer since 2020.
